usapatriot Definitely Maybe Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Kashyyyk Posts: 2,157	Seagate did it to ensure that the drive would operate on motherboards without SATA II connectors. Pretty smart if you ask me, actually it's supposedly pretty easy to spot if you read the installation instruction attached to the top of the HDD.
