Default HD tune cannot read temp!!!

Hi guys,

I recently upgraded my video card to ATi 4870, and switch to vista x64.

Before that event, HD tune could read the temp from my 2 HDDs, but now it cannot read all the information from the HDD (no temp, no caches,...).

Is this because of the AHCI driver from ATi?

It could be related to a compatibility issue with Vista x64 since HD tune online manual doesn't say whether or not its fully supported(it mentions XP 64bit support). Make sure you have the latest version of HD tune and I suggest trying the 15 day trial of HD tune Pro(its supposedly more updated).

Also, you can try other software like speedfan and see if it reads it. There are other software listed in the Best Free Software for Windows sticky in the windows forum(list of programs should be under Resource Monitors).

I just recognized that my drives are in SCSI mode. I have no idea what it is. Some google searchs showed that it is faster and more toward server storage. I think it is the main reason HDD information could not be read.
I downloaded a diagnosis tool from seagate, and it could not retrieve any information either.
Here is a screen shot of the storage devices on my PC.

Something have changed your drives to SCSI mode (probably the ATI card). Download and install the latest Intel Matrix Storage driver. Should solve the problem

Did as Sprint said. It says that the computer does not meet the requirement.

Fix the issue by unstalling the ATi Promise SATA RAID driver.

yup hdtune has problems reading SMART data when AHCI mode is enabled.. just stick to ide (unless you're using a hd/ssd that can max out UDMA 6 [or whatever mode your mobo is capable of])...
