Default Virus Spyware Malware Trojan

I guess from th heading you know where this is leading to. I am currently using XP but switching to Vista soon so I require and very good anti Virus software that I can rely on. I am not looking for free but looking to purchase one.On XP I have tried.

Norton-No good
Mcfee-No Good
Ad WARE-No good
SpyBot-No good
AVG-No good

And loads other I cant think of. But the best ones are

Windows defender is good but wont get all the viruses so use this with another AntiVirus software.

The best I have had are Spyware Doctor and Spyware Terminater. I have downloaded Kasperky and has not yet detected anything.

I currently have Windows Defender, Spyware Doctor and Spyware Terminater with Kasperky. The other 3 have not picked up anything so I guess Kasperky cant really show mw its results I have only recently downloaded it. For Vista I am only looking for one software that I can rely on when using the net and email etc. Any Ideas what the best one will be.

I have a rough Idea of the top 3 which are

BitDefender
Kasperky
Eset Nod32

I am thinking of Bit Defender. What do you guys use and what is the best in your expirence?

I have never actually gotten a virus on any computer I have owned, maybe a few pieces of spyware/malware but never a virus.....the best thing to grab I would think is something that monitors your http traffic for odd parameters

but if I had to choose between the four you have listed I would go with kaspersky, seeing as how I keep it disabled except when I download something, then I scan that object

well i use kaspersky on my vista dell 6400... it hasnt found anything yet, but i just think of it as my PC is well protected... the wireless router has built in firewall, i have windows vista firewall, and i have kaspersky firewall.

Also i use Ad-Aware for all the spyware etc.

From what you have written I don't know if one program will be enough you might want to run several as different might find different ones. All the company's are constantly trying to find identify and protect so early on (new virus) which one is ahead on any threat is always changing. There is no best it is a misconception or opinion. Good luck.
