Default Water spilled on keyboard. No longer working. Can it be fixed?

I spilled bottled water on my keyboard. Now it is doing funny things.

Some keys are unresponsive, others don't type what they should. Some of the unresponsive keys didn't have water spilled on them. Wondering if it is something else.

The number 1 is continually being printed without me hitting any keys and it won't stop.

It is a USB keyboard for a desktop.

Is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Do I need a new keyboard?

How long ago did you spill the water on it? The only thing I can think of is turn it upside down and let it dry for a few days. If it still doesn't work after that then I would suggest a new keyboard.

Last night. Would the keyboard have dried out by now?

Now none of the keys work.

When I plug the keyboard into the computer, I get a windows message.

"one of the usb devices attatched to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it."

Does that message mean it won't recognize it in the future? Is it possible the keyboard needs more time to dry?

I reinstalled the drivers for the heck of it and that did not work.

I would hate to buy another keyboard and have it work in a couple of days.

I have Windows XP.

I would personally have low hopes that it just starts working again. Keyboards are fairly bad when it comes to water.

Give it a day or four in the sun, if it's going to start working again that will do it.

It takes a surprisingly long time for electronics to really dry out - and if you kept it plugged in and tried to use it you might have shorted some things out and ruined it. Give it a long time, if you can open it up to help with air circulation. 3 days is the minimum before you plug it back in.

How expensive is it? Is it worth trying to save or would it be easier to buy a new one?

Also, if you can, leave it upside down and exposed to a hair dryer or something similar.
