Default Alienware re-launches Area-51 ALX with 4GHz overclocked QX9770

Alienware re-launched their Area-51 ALX desktop with quad graphics cards and a CPU overclocked to 4GHz.

The Area-51 ALX's Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 has been overclocked from the stock 3.2GHz to 4.0GHz, its "maximum stable output". The ALX comes with liquid cooling to keep its internals cool. Customers have two choices when it comes to graphics power - dual Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2 in Quad SLI mode or dual ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 in CrossFireX mode. Other specifications include 4GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 memory, a Sound Blaster X-Fi sound card, and up to 4TB of hard drive space.

The Alienware Area-51 ALX starts at $4,599 and is available now.

More information on the Alienware ALX system can be found at the following link: www.alienware.com/ALX

Well this isn't excessive, or anything. What a job, though: "What do you do for a living?" "I see how fast I can get expensive PCs to run." Official overclocker?

As an aside, I really, truly hate the look of Alienware's cases.

wonder how hot that baby runs...im guessing they put a CoolIt system in it since prebuilt watercooling is not very good. If only i could push a few more ghz out of my quad..i could beat that for less than half their price
