Dell Studio XPS 435t/9000 BIOS Crash
I have a Dell XPS 435t/9000. I was experiencing incessant system hang ups, where the only solution was to power off the machine. This was accompanied by pink specs all over my monitor. My internet research concluded that the pink specs were the video card (NVIDIA GeForce GTS240) going bad. I further read that the hang ups might be related to the video card as well. I am not a computer guy by any means. I went to the Dell Drivers and Downloads site and tried to update as many things as possible. One of the things I tried to update was the BIOS. BIG,BIG mistake, because, as luck would have it, my system hung up in the middle of the BIOS update. Therefore, now, based on my research again, I believe my motherboard is fried, or "bricked". My question is, do I need to replace the motherboard, or can I replace the BIOS chip? or is there a Bios backup? If I need to replace the motherboard, should I install an upgraded one? If so, which motherboard should I go with. I also need to replace the video card. I do a lot of HD video editing and photo editing on my Studio XPS. What would be a good video card upgrade from the NVIDIA GeForce GTS240? Any info will be appreciated.
