Building my first computer right now
I have all the parts for my new computer (Minus the HDD and I don't have a case as I ran out of funding) I am really lost on the whole PSU cords..
I have already installed the i5 2500k and the heatsink to the motherboard and the placement of the ram is very confusing..
Parts are..
i5 2500k
Gigabyte Z68 motherboard
EVGA GeForce 560
G.skill sniper 8GB ram (2x 4GB sticks)
Asus optical drive
Corsair 650w PSU
I think that's it, unless I forgot to mention something.. Anyway, I need help (With maybe someone donating an old case that would fit my motherboard and or just telling me how these wires connect.. I figured out the large connector to the motherboard, as it was the only thing of that size.

Here's a good youtube guide on building a pc:
Newegg TV: How To Build a Computer - Part 2 - The Build - YouTube
The wires - as long as the plug fits into the socket, it's fine. Theirs no requirement of any particular order - except for cable management. (Basically you don't want to clutter your case)
Good case at an amazing price.
Amazon.com: Antec One Computer Case: Computers & Accessories
Remember, even if someone donated an old case to you, the shipping costs will still come out to be around $10: for a piece of junk. You might as well purchase one from amazon or something.

Does this Antec one case have any 3.0 USB ports? I wish I'd have just gone with a modular PSU, I will next time..lol Also, is my choice of parts a solid gaming rig?

Yes, the usb ports at the front of the case are USB 3.0
Modular PSU's aren't worth it. They cost alot more. And For ex, the Antec One has a little area on the bottom, front of the case where you can stuff all your extra power cables out of sight. Most modern cases already have a method of dealing with cable cluther. So the advantage of modular cpus aren't so great anymore.
Your choice of parts are pretty solid. I woulda have gone for a 7850 or waited for a 660 rather than get the 560. But the 560 is still a very good gpu.

Alright, I'll probably go for the Antec one since my budget went over and will be very tight for awhile.. The 560 can always be sold on ebay or I can find another use for it later, but a 660 is a very likely future upgrade for 2013 or so..
Is it safe to run it without a case for now, if so, what percautions should be taken to ensure the safety of the exposed parts?

Its possible. I sometimes build computer rigs on top of motherboard boxes: for fixing / diagnosing.
But I wouldn't recommend it. It's too easy to accidentally knock over - especially if you have children or pets.
I had a friend who had an open computer, it lasted for about 4 months until someone spilled coffee into it.................
If you REALLY must do it. You could try building it inside of a box or something. LOL

Can I get some more angles on that box? I just need something to make sure it works and use a little to see if it is indeed fine.. Until I can get that Antec case.. No kids, pets or people here.

Success, I am writing this post from the new computer.. I am running it without a case right now and to ensure it stays cool, I put a fan on it.. I'd rather it keep cool than myself.. I was unable to install the 560 due to confusion with the cables and my HDMI cable does not fit the 560, only fits the integrated video. Almost there, just need a bit more help.
