Gaming PC build
Ok so I am in the market for a gaming rig. i have been looking at notebooks and desktops and i think building a desktop would be my best option. My only real budget is whatever this rig comes out to, however the cheaper the better. I would like to be able to run most games on Ultra-High, smoothly. Games such as max Payne 3, MWF 3, BF 3, Crysis 2, Diablo 3, SWTOR, Skyrim, etc.
So here is what i have so far. If there is anyway i can get a better GPU by lowering the price of something else here please let me know. Also if anything is dated suggest something more up to date for me. i haven't done this in a while so I am still seeing what is out there.

All this comes out to $1359.02. So can I save money anywhere or any way i can get a better GPU for not much more if it would add to the price at all?Last edited by MX5J6; 06-21-2012 at 04:09 PM.

The eVGA GTX670 FTW is like top 2-3 single GPU's out right now. Youll be able to play any game at max details for a while. It performs like a GTX680 for $100 less. I have it and LOVE it. I play BF3 on Ultra @ 1080p and average between 85-100FPS.
If you have room for it in your budget, add a SSD

Here are some areas you can save money. For some of your parts (I didn't list all of them) you might want to buy from amazon.com to take advantage of free shipping, no tax (depending on where you live).
CPU $190 [Same]
Micro Center - Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 Processor 407627
RAM $53 - $10 = $43 (coupon) [similar]
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Techn...=kingston+ddr3
PSU $50 (after rebate) [similar]
Newegg.com - CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 V2 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
DVD and Hyper 212 [Same]
Depending on whether you get free shipping from newegg, you might want to purchase from amazon.com instead.
For ex:
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-24xDVD-RW...s=DVD+internal
If your willing to downgrade a little on your case
Case $40 [Different]
Amazon.com: Antec One Computer Case: Electronics
That gpu you have is the #3 best single core gpu. And it's the most powerful bang-for-buck gpu available. I think you should stick to it.
I second crazy in suggesting a SSD: For ex, corsair GT, crucial m4, Intel 520, Samsung 8xx. (You should get a 60 - 120Gb SSD in conjuntion to a storage 7200rpm HDD)

Newegg.com - ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 92mm Fluid Dynamic CPU Cooler
Will these parts work just as well as the origionals? i forgot completely i needed to buy a copy of Windows 7. So that made my budget go up a bit. i am really trying to stay under or around $1300. So will these parts be fine? I am mostly concenred about the MoBo.
Would this heat sink do fine?Last edited by MX5J6; 06-22-2012 at 01:20 AM.

Heatsink: Same price, but better.
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7
RAM: I'd recommend a 2x4 over a 1x8 : Also, the option I'm giving you costs less and is 1600mhz versus 1333mhz
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
Everything else looks fine. The motherboard looks okay too.

I forgot the 1155 and 1156 are pretty much the same when it coems to heatsinks, aren't they? I was about to say the 212+ only supports 1156 not 1155 but that would be dumb. haha
I will also switch to that RAM as I am sure I will not need more than 16GB anytime soon, if I decide to add more later I mean.
Thanks for your suggestions. =] What do you think of the cheaper case? I actually really like it and its tooless drive bays. Plan on getting a Crucial M4 120GB SSD after I get some more money together.

Case seems to be very good from the pictures.
But I have never owned/touched a Roswell: So I don't know.
Need to actually see it in person before I can make a legitimate opinion.

I might actually go with one that has no side view and might be a little cheaper just because I didn't think about it but my case is not really seen very much. i will keep this on my list for now but if something else pops up I may ask if anyone has any experience with it. what brands for a case do you recommend?

Ok after doing some more research I found most of the components were cheaper on amazon so I decided to buy 80% from there and the other 20% from newegg. Also did a little bit of an overhaul so things look like this now.
RAIDMAX Seiran ATX-902WB
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Motherboard
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHZ CPU (will OC when I get it)
PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1600 RAM
MSI GeForce GTX 670 Twin Frozr IV (is this the best 670 for OC'ing? if not what would anyone else suggest?)
Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM HDD
Antec Earthwatts EA-650D
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus + CM BladeMaster 120mm PWM Fan (would this extra fan help any or will one be fine?)
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
Asus 24xDVD-RW
Windows 7 Home Premium OEM
This all adds up to about $1299.07, which I think is pretty good seing as the GPU is about 1/3 the total price. haha So any suggestions? Or comments?
