Default Aspire X3200 power button issue

When I turn my tower off and want to turn it back on, the power button, which is a strange design, wont work. The button is underneath a piece of flexible plastic, and I guess the plastic does not go down far enough to hit the actual button. I have to unplug the power cord for a bit, then plug it back in and she boots up! Anyone else have this problem? I will more than likely, pull the shell and check it out, annoying cause I just bought it yesterday!!

Did you buy it at a local store? It might be worth it to go down and swap it out just to not have to deal with an issue.

I did, but I have all my files and stuff don already on this one. I am handy and as much as I should get a new one, I'd rather fix mine I think!

Thanks!

Finally pulled the cover off to check the power button. It was not seated properly. I reseated the actual button and pulled the plug, at the mother board, to check continuity, and its fine. It still is only working once in a while. I wiggled the connector at the mother board and it seemed to work sometimes. It may be a bad solder joint on the mother board, or a broken wire. I am not gonna worry bout it. She stays on always anyway!

Default a little help with the power switch

I'm trying to fix this Acer Aspire x3200 for a lady who's son just died and left pictures on the hard drive. I took off the front cover and found two wires a white and a blue one which are just bare then a green and whit one which go to an LED and then a red and white (also goes to an LED...) can anyone help me out here as she's love to get these pics off of the system...it was their last trip to a place called Longwood Gardens... let me know what I can do to get this system to safely and continuously turn on and off so she can have her memories... Thanks in advance for the help...

MY power button problem turned out to be the power supply, which took a dump today

Sorry to hear about your power supply...I don't know much about the architecture of the acer.. But most pc power supply issues/replacements are straight forward. You just label the leads, photograph the unit before dis-assembly. That is if you have a good enough digital camera... That always makes it much easier to assure the reassembly goes well. If you know anyone who can show me a picture of a power switch and the wiring. Or has an extra power switch I would be forever in your debt.

I've got a similar problem to this:

I've got an Acer AX3812 and when I try load it up, it takes an increasing amount of attempts to load up. I'm not really a technical person so don't really know how to word it but, the PC works absolutely fine and its got no problems it just seems to be a problem booting up, like the large 'button' to press on the top of the PC isn't connecting with something to turn it on, if that makes any sense, because its not like a standard 'on button' which I've had on all previous PCs.

How would I go about fixing this, would it be quite simple to open the PC up so the the button is lined up with the plastic which turns it on or will I need to take it in?

I bought a ax3812 2 weeks ago and it does the same thing.. Those power buttons / switches are not very well designed... I setup the computer, repartitionned the drive, copied my documents etc... so it would be a pain to ship back for repair or for exchange...

I guess i'll live with it !
